An avalanche and a whale

I don’t know how the rest of NW U.S. folks are feeling, but this cold weather has been getting me down! We had a huge snowstorm last week, where my town got more snow in one month than we usually get the entire year!  It was so bad, there was an avalanche right inside of town. Absolutely crazy. If you live in the US you might have even heard about it on the Today show. There were four people trapped under the avalanche, and unfortunately one of them died. Reading about the people involved in the avalanche has had me in tears all week. I can’t imagine being the mother of the two children that were trapped.

Oofta, no more heavy stuff! Thankfully, the sun has made a few appearances today. My kitchen window has been open all day which is definitely a good sign! I can’t wait for the weather to get a bit nicer. I think the sunshine helps me feel creative. Is anyone else like that?

I had a lot of blue yarn left over from a previous project — in fact I still have some — so I decided to make a whale. The construction on this guy was a little different, so his tail curves a little bit on the end. I really like it! You can find the pattern here.

I’m babysitting my best friend’s adorable little girls for the weekend. I forgot what it was like to have a three year old and a one year old in the house all day long. Let’s just say, I’ll be sleeping soundly tonight after all this running around today!

Have a great rest of your weekend.
